Will people ever live on Mars
Earth is getting overpopulated so mankind needs to explore other planets for settlement .
One of these planets is Mars and the NASA space programme is currently exploring if it can be inhabited by humans, after finding out what can be done, or is required for safe existence.
On the 30th July this year a space rocket carrying a Mars Rover called Perseverance took off from Cape Canaveral in the USA. It will take nearly 7 months for it to get there.
The Rover has a machine called a Moxie on it which can convert CO2 into oxygen which could be used in buildings on Mars so that humans could live up there.
Ancient sites on Mars will be explored to see if any life has been there previously. This could be a positive sign for future human inhabitation.
A water source could be from underground ice on the planet which could be brought up and heated to turn it into vapour, then water. Fruit and vegetables could be grown hydroponically for a food source.
Some of the pros and cons about living on Mars are, that it is very cold -the temperature can get as low as minus 120 degrees celsius. So any buildings would all have to be joined.
